As many of you know...and for those of you who don't every week on Tuesdays we introduce to you another one of our *Fabulous Readers* who I have gotten to know through Blog Land.
This morning Judy Kaufmann is here with us for our Tell ALL Tuesdays spot.
Do you have your coffee/tea?
Ready?
Lets begin...
Tell us a little about the Town you live in... & have you always lived there?
I live in Barcelona since 2004. Until this year, I lived in Santiago de Chile, where I was born and where live now the most part of my family.
I came to Barcelona to study Illustration and I stay here, taking advantage of all that can give this amazing city.
If you could move anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?
Wow! What a good question (I never thought about where it might be better than here…)
More than staying in one place, I think it would be amazing to be tomorrow ready to start a big trip.
I feel that I have yet another big trip to do. Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil or South India maybe...
I usually do long trips (2-4 months) from time to time but the last one was in 2007, and now I'm starting feel that it's time to plan the next one...
How structured is your day usually?
My day rarely has a structure, I really never know what I'm going to do tomorrow. The truth is the least I have my day is order, structure or routine. That's good (at least for me) of being freelance. Life has more surprises.
What did you do today?
Today I woke up and my boyfriend has prepared breakfast. We ate pancakes and a bit of custard on the terrace. We were looking at some strange cloud in the sky. (time is changing) I got a second coffee and sat down to write this "interview." In a while I'll go to the pool, and after that to the stationery store to buy some stuff.
In the afternoon I'll come home (where my studio is) to work a little. Are you a cat or dog person?
Definitely it depends on the day. Sometimes I need affection and love as a dog and sometimes I need no one bother me and be able to leave hair everywhere I go with no one looking at me. (:
Are you a breakfast, lunch or dinner girl?
I'm between dinner and breakfast. My best energy is concentrated when the streets are empty and when there is not noise outside. Maybe they are my best hours because I feel that I am not missing anything from outside. With regard to food, I am definitely breakfast because is the meal that I could not ever lose.
If you had 6 friends over for Dinner what would you make for them?
Curried chicken cooked with natural yougurt and lemmon with avocado-Celery salad. If they like it and they want to come again, then I'll prepare a Peruvian ceviche with swordfish, red onion, pepper and a lot of lemmon.
How old were you when you knew you were on the right path in your Life?
At age 22, when I traveled to Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia from chile by bus. Traveling so many hours on buses gives you so much time to think that I ordered my life and I was pretty happy with what I had.
Professionally when I turned 24 and I came to Barcelona to study illustration (more than six years ago)
Who /what drove and inspired your love to create?
First my mother as an artist and then my father in the sense of the good idea, the fast concept, the creativity.
One of the artists who have inspired me (and maybe he doesn't know it) is the great illustrator Allen Lauzan. I met him at the right moment.
But as I always say, I get the inspiration from what I don't understand, what I don't know, what I don't know how to do, what I am not.
Tell us something not too many people know about you.
I can never leave the scissors closed (gives me a choking feeling) and I always get the clothes and shoes starting with the left side.
Shoe choice::flats or heels?
I think I wore heels once in my life and I'm not thinking about doing it again.
What was the last book you read?
Kafka, written by David Zane Mairowitz, that is fantastically illustrated by Robert Crumb.
What advice would you give others just starting out?
I. Listen to good music.
II. the time you spend drawing is proportional to the quality of your artwork.
Name 5 blogs you love visiting, and tell us why.
