the grass is always greener...even at 7 and 5!

Good morning, I know this is not a very artsy post...but thought it may hit home with some of you...
Our girls are loved more than you can imagine (I know you know how much...but writing it seems so little)...Their family adores them...they have everything ...they have great friends around them...and we are fortunate to have a roof over our heads and are healthy.
BUT...
They still wish they had straight hair...not such a big deal you may be saying....but hair is quite a big deal for 2 little girls with SO much hair!

This is a picture of them this morning after having washed and conditioned their hair...."Can I leave it down so it looks pretty??WOW...it's getting SO long"I say....but "NO...JUST a poney-tail please so it looks straight"...
Miss J is worse about her hair than Miss A...and I do and have tried to chat with them about others being not so lucky...and some children don't even have hair...and how there are other things to worry about...etc.etc

I try and figure out where it has stemmed from...is it because washing their hair is a BIG occasion...and takes longer than they would hope?
Is it because since they were small people say to them "I love your puffy hair?" and always want to touch it?
Who knows?
All I know is that they are beautiful...and their hair is too...
I have straight hair...and would LOVE curly...
The grass is always greener...
Be happy that you have your health I say to them...
We are who we are, embrace it and love it...

They want me to buy a hair straightener, but I don't have 2 hours a week to sit and straighten their hair...so I refuse to buy one until they can do each other's hair...
Am I wrong?

I can't remember WANTING something so badly to change about me when I was little...
Do you?

Have a good Wednesday...I know...not the usual Wordless Wednesday post...

Both are beautiful young ladies and should be proud of themselves. Tell them to love what they have...down, back or any way they like. God has blessed them well and will always be with them.

Oh dear! The grass really ìs greener on the pother side, isn't i?! :D
As a little girl (with goldy, yet dramatically straight locks...) I wanted curls! Small curls like your gils have!
Now Im a big girl and I still secretly wish I had flaming red (the 'scottish' kind) curls. ^__^

Anyway... I think you're probably right to make them wait a big longer. Also because otherwise, you're looking ahead at 4 hours of straightening a week... which is a half a day's worth of work! :D

& have a GREAT wednesday!

Absolutely gorgeous children, with a woman's permanent dilemma. How to wear our hair:). As a mom, I love it "tamed," as in your ponytails. Yet, it must be truly luxurious to see in all it's glory:). I have straight hair and always wanted curl; my best friend too curly always ironed hers. I would agree that when they can manage the tresses themselves, they can have a straighter. It's tough to be young and "sure" what you want:). Hmmm - as it is to be old and sure? Enjoy your blessings.

The hair thing. It seems most girls/women always want it to look different than what they have. I know I do now and did then. Perhaps it is because we CAN change it somewhat that it becomes such a focus. I think everything you have said to them is perfect! And I too would wait until they are old enough to do it themselves (but maybe on special occasions they can get it straightened?)

And can I say...I wish I had hair like them? :-)

your girls are so beautiful!
this post speaks to me~
a lot of my family has very curly hair~mine used to be so curly i couldn't get a comb through it and i would try and brush it straight. then after i had my girls-it lost a lot of its curl. my daughter straightens hers almost daily with an iron, and i wish she'd just let it be-it gets so very drying. i think we usually look best with how we're born anyhow ;)
but i understand how so many of us want to change whatever we have, myself included-hair color-curly straight and so on.it's hard but i'd wait awhile myself...

p.s-thanks for stopping by-and yes, you certainly may 'pin' the tutorial :)

They are adorable!! And I feel your dilemma. As girls and women we have so many issues, and influence is everywhere. I wish we could all just be happy and confident with what we've been given and not care about that grass on the other side. I think the only thing we can do is love ourselves and love our children for who they are. And let them do their own hair when they're old enough ;-)
