crossing the border...

We took this trip to Port Clinton Ohio to visit some very special families who we have been in touch with for the past 30 years...
It took us approx 7 hours to drive there...I always have a longer boarder crossing than most as I still have my British passport...so I have to fill in papers for a 3 month Visa to the States...get my fingers scanned and eye too...I`m used to it now...but at first I was a little upset that the customs officers couldn't just stamp my passport and be done with me...

Anyway...we drove through Sarnia over the Bluewater Bridge to Port Huron....Lake Huron had the prettiest blue water....stunning, as turquoise as the Caribbean! So...I was very excited and thought "Oooh, Lake Eirie may be JUST as gorgeous...", NOPE...not so...it was murkier than Lake Ontario! BUT the kids still played in it...I got waste deep...that's about all I could stomach...

The above 2 pictures were of our trip to Put in Bay...a beautiful Island which I'm sure is a party Island for many young 20 year olds...beautiful old Century homes with tonnes of character.
You can rent mopeds or Golf Carts so our party of 12 rented 2 golf carts. We explored the Island and the kids all wanted to do some Gem Mining and mini Golf...

They had so much fun...as did ALL the adults...
Art Camp starts in half an hour...
I'll keep you posted on our new projects we're working on this week.

Have a fabulous day!

Living my entire life in eastern Wisconsin, just a few miles from Lake Michigan, it's funny that I've never seen any of the other Great Lakes! Lake Huron looks beautiful, as does the scenery in this quaint little lakeside town! Thanks for posting these photos!
