Tell ALL Tuesdays :: Joe Everson

WOW...this week has sped by!
As many of you know every week on Tuesdays we introduce to you another one of our *Fabulous Readers* who I have gotten to know through Blog Land over this past year

 and a half...

I first stumbled upon Joe and his ingredible draughtmanship recently after discovering his Wife's blog..I was in awe, it's rare to find someone who is so dedicated to detailing a piece of artwork. Such a talent!
So...not keeping you any further from meeting and getting to know Joe a little better...

Let me introduce to you...Joe Everson.

Tell us a little about the Town you live in... & have you always lived there?
I grew up in Midland, MI. Midland is a family oriented community minded City. My father grew up in Midland and the majority of my relatives still live in Midland. Dow and Dow Corning are two very large chemical co. that produce the majority of the jobs in Midland, and it is not hard to find people with extra letters before their names. Yet, at the core midland is filled with hardworking people. The state of MI has been in the nation’s lowest economic status because of GM and the automobile industry. This is hard. Seeing my grandfather’s medical possibly taken, and seeing many families struggling to keep their homes. My father taught music at Delta College for a while, but he got another Job in Pembine, WI teaching music at Northland International University. I was in tenth grade when I moved there, and I studied Theology and Counseling at the University. I met my wife, Bethany, at college; and fell in love with her beautiful blue eyes.
If you could move anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?
I think that I would only like to visit other places. I am very happy living in MI. But I have always wanted to see Paris!

How structured is your day usually?
My wife would probably say that my days are messy; I say that my days are a structured mess. This is due to the nature of my work. My family and my brother’s family sing in for a non-profit organization across the U.S. This means that we are on the go every week. We could be in South Carolina one week and Maine the Next.

What did you do today?
I built a basketball hoop, lead a youth group, and did my drawing lesson of the day. I also watched the Olympics and cheered on a speedskater, Travis, from Midland MI.
Are you a cat or dog person?
I am a dog person! This is partially because I am allergic to cats.
Are you a breakfast, lunch or dinner guy?
I think that I am a lunch guy. I like dinners and hamburger joints. I love the nostalgic 50’s feeling.
If you had 6 friends over for Dinner what would you make for them?
If I had some guy friends over I would probably cook some steak. If their families were joining them I think that I would my grandmother’s favorite enchiladas! Mmmmmm.
How old were you when you knew you were on the right path in your Life?
I think that there are many ways of looking at the direction a person should go based on that individual’s interests and desires. I always loved to be involved in the ARTs, and I think that I always knew that I would be. Whether it would be singing, teaching, designing, coaching, drawing, or all of the above; the truth of the matter is, drawing has become my passion.
Who /what drove & inspired your love to create?
I had a teacher in High school, Marilyn Garrison, who did more than teach me art; she inspired me by telling me that I had a gift. She was fun and encouraging. I would also have to say that My Grandma Grace (Professional Photographer) and Grandma Eunice (Watercolor Painter) were the closest to me who understood the art side of me. Thank you both.

Tell us something not too many people know about you.
I went to Guam for a summer and learned how to play the Ukulele.
What was the last book you read?
Oddly enough the last book that I read was, “The Art of Basic Drawing.”
What advice would you give others just starting out?
When you see another artist, don’t get jealous! Do it your way!
Name 5 blogs you enjoy visiting, and tell us why.
My wife has a great blog called “It’s a Wonderful Life

My Mother-in-laws blog “Cranberry Cottage
A great friend and artist, “Pam Warden Art
This blog is interesting and one of the first people to start following me in blogger.
To tell you the truth the next favorite blog of mine is the one you are reading. I love the concept of this blog!

Wordless Wednesday

we dimmed the lights after a crazy busy day...
the TV came on for the first time...

and there was SILENCE...

I got to sketch them(quick 5 min sketches) as their eyes were transfixed on the screen...sitting in their Pj's ready for bed.
You can tell I am tired...I dated the sketch the 9th...when it's the 10th already today!

I hope you had a good day...
OH...GREAT news...THANKs to all of you who voted for me over at Bright and Blithe...I won the majority of votes, so you earned me an interview spot over there in the next coming week or so...THANK YOU lovelies...I am blessed to have such dear readers...truly I am.

TUESDAY's SHOES - Art for Haiti...contd.

there's something about Converse All Stars...I wish I could wear them ALL year round...but for 4 months they don't touch the ground outside...maybe this is why our shoes wear better...a little like snow tyres and summer tyres.
I didn't get up this morning at a crazy hour...because I slept through my alarm and was woken by Little Miss A.
So as you can see by the photo...I have just had lunch whilst finishing the sketch.
Updating my new Esty Store...there will be 3 pairs in there to date...
Mr. R asked yesterday..."How many do you think you'll do?"
I told him " as many pairs of shoes that I have in our wardrobe"..."How many is that?" ..."Not sure...I guess we'll have to wait and see" I said.
I swear it feels like Spring is just around the corner here...2 degrees and the snow is melting...what's up with that!
Hope you're having a great day.
Until tomorrow...which shoes shall I choose?...hmmm...I guess you'll have to wait and see.

a sneaky sketch...

sometimes you have to sneak in sketches of your kids...this was our little miss A whilst she was eating this evening.
Always good practice and makes me feel like I've done my little *me* bit for today...

What did you do for YOURSELF today?

P.S. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was GREAT...very entertaining with excellent graphics.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Good to be home...

it really is good to be home...
Do you ever feel like you do so much and try to cram as much as you can in a weekend? Especially the last few of the Summer...because along comes Winter and so many weekends are spent at home.
Well the whole Summer has been crazy...and as much as I love our road trips, but I adore coming home.
The girls seem to relax more at home, they have all their toys and books...it's tough trying to gather items which will occupy them,toys,books,dolls,stickers,crafts...to bring with us every time we head out for the day.
Yesterday(Saturday) we went to the "drop Zone"...my husband had to pick up a rig(parachute) to practice packing on so he can complete his course.
So we were there a good 4 hours.
I ended up sketching my little nephew Morton...he looks a little Alien in this sketch, I haven't met him yet...but know from the pictures which I receive he has big piercing eyes...striking little fella! (I CAN'T WAIT to meet him at xmas)
The sketch is for Matt,my brother in-law...his Birthday was yesterday...Happy Birthday Matt!

Today we left for Picton,Ontario...where my husband had a couple of friends slalom racing their cars...and asked if he'd like to try it.
SO...up again, prepping for the whole day out...our girls are such great travellers...but they also knew that we were going to Bird House City!
We've been a few times, the last time was 2 years ago...so it was new and exciting for J...little miss A couldn't wait to see them again...it's a large conservation area where different artists have made replicas of historical buildings in and around Picton...and others such as this Horse...Miss J's fave.
Of course Miss A chose the castle as her favourite!
So...I'm not sure if you've all noticed the AMOUNT of bugs this year....but when we were at the raceway this afternoon...we were surrounded by crickets and grasshoppers...
One landed on J's hand..."Look Mummy" she said...followed by...
her completely freaking out because it wasn't going anywhere and was making itself quite comfortable on her body...I'm so glad I caught it on camera...because she was pretty upset...but know she will be talking about it for months.(that's just what she does)
Somebody caught a pic of me sketching...haha...see how I hold my pen...I always have and always will...teachers at school would be constantly trying to correct it...as I do with little miss A...as she has the same issue...funny what gets passed down.
I don't think I have ever drawn a car before...makes me chuckle a little...as I had to add miss A's little baby she pushes or carries everywhere with her...just to pretty it up a little. I like this sketch and am happy with the wonky, wobbly lines...I wasn't concerned too much about precision...it was a fun exercise.
AND...finally, from the bugs eye view...our girls watching the cars zig-zag through the slalom course. LOVE this shot...am going to get it printed for sure.
Wow...that was a long post...if you got through it...thanks for hanging in there!
How was your weekend? Did you get up to much?
OH...
Make sure you enter the 500+Giveaway I have going on if you haven't yet!!!
AND remember we have another Tell All Tuesday happening this week...check back to see who it is!
I'm off to get me some chicken soup...
Bye,

Any colour???

not quite yet...I've been working on finishing the idea for this bathroom mural and I think I have it now...
Frogs, Blue Heron, butterflies, a bunny who crept in from the meadow bedroom, snails, dragonflies and flowers, reeds, birches and lots of long grasses...
There's a large mirror which pretty much covers the sink area in length...so I really can't do too much on that side...but here is where I can place butterflies and snails on grasses, I'll put long reeds behind the toilet and perhaps a couple of lotus flowers...
The wall which was illustrated in my previous post will be reflected in the mirror as it's the wall directly opposite to the sinks.
There's a slight bit of wall above the bath, where I can always place either a couple of butterflies, or a few insects.
I wish I had come colour to show you...maybe if I wake up early I can dip my paint brush into some paint for you to give you all a better idea of tones of the colours I'd like to use.
It's been a really long day...so on that note...I'm going to the land of Dreams.
Still quietness here in the house...
Good night all....come back tomorrow for some colour!

Work and play....

Well...it took 2 hours to complete...but I'm really happy with how the overall idea for that wall came out,(hope YOU like it LA)...I'll be adding frogs,Lilly flowers, crickets, ducks and other flowers in other sketches.
I'm looking forward to start adding colours, although it probably won't happen until Saturday...tomorrow the girls have their Ballet Recital Rehearsal.
Here's a goofy photo of them...have a wonderful weekend...if I don't get around to posting.
Thanks for stopping by...are you up to anything special this weekend?
All is quite here at home...for those of you who had read my post earlier this week, will know what I'm referring to...IT's a GOOD thing:-)
smiles...

Fairy and Meadow Murals...

This is the final idea I have draughted for the Fairy Mural. There's no other place to put their daughter's Bed, so I am planning around it. It's almost like a scene seen through windows of a castle bedroom...lots of meadows with animals and fairies, rainbows and butterflies...dragonflies and bunnies...
Sketch 1:: Bunny hoping away...about to tell the others(of the meadow) that there are Big people watching them!
Bunny Sketch 2:: Big Bunny soaking in the Sunny Rays amongst the blades of new grasses...
This is the style of Fairy which will be used throughout the Mural...
And this one too...
A few little Fairy details...friends of all animals and flora...
I'm still deciding on the actual size of the fairies...I'd like to be able to give enough facial detail to them all, giving them each a unique look...
The frogs will be more for the Meadow Mural which I posted pics of in a previous blog...but I may add one on a toadstool in the Fairy Mural too...
Dragonflies and Butterflies for both murals...
This was one idea for the Fairy Mural...we had to work around the bed not being able to move around and the wall spaces which are encompassing it. I like the ideas of the trees being the homes for some of the fairies...and the meadows in the distance with the castles...so I'll use some features from this sketch...
Here was another idea, I like the trees how they become the homes of some of the fairies and I love the meadows and the castles, so I'll take some elements and incorporate them in the designs I create for the end sketch.
It's raining here today...I love rainy days in the Summer...fresh air to follow...natural methods of watering the lawns and flowers, curly hair and clean windows!
Have a lovely Thursday...
Char, Ontario
