Such a beautiful day...

Right now:
It's 11am
I have been in to the girls school and dropped off Geronimo Stilton sketches for Miss A's class to use whilst their teacher reads to them... A form of passive art...the kids will colour them eventually... Miss A can't get enough of Geronimo!

I have done my grocery shopping for the weekend. Yay, I love getting that out of the way.

I had an appointment with a lady who wants portraits for Christmas gifts... Always a lovely gesture, especially when I am the one they are asking to paint them!

The sky is a gorgeous blue today, there was the first sign of frost on the roof tops this morning... Which means the temperature dropped below 0 last night!
Winter is on its way!

Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.

Friday faces...

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone...and soon we'll be welcoming June! Another really speedy month has just flown by us.
I am in the process of working on another Hoop Portrait for a wonderful lady in the USA...she has a blog too,so if you'd like to go and say hello...please do.
In the photo above you can see some of my books which will all follow me down into my studio in maybe 2 weeks!!!
Mudding (plastering) and sanding is probably my LEAST favourite job...but it has to be done!

We went to the National Ballet for a Tour of their rehearsal studio yesterday...and saw them rehearsing ALICE! Which if some of you remember we'll be going to see in a couple of weeks time...SO excited.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed being able to identify characters during rehearsal...Ballet dancers are SO strong and make everything look SO easy...very inspiring. I could have sat there all day and watched them dance!

I have another day of sanding and then I'll be priming today...getting closer to

I hope you all have a lovely weekend...

Book illustrations FINISHED

Hello wonderful readers...today is a good day! I finished the illustrations for Shelly and my 1st book!!!
I'm sorry this is only a tease really as I can't write the title...or give you the story written word for word...BUT...it's all about Rhythm and Rhyme....it's about accepting who you are...and learning from your mistakes...it's about making a positive out of a negative.

She really is a sweet girl...she just needs to think before she speaks(hey, sounds like someone I know!!! :-)

she has family and friends who love and care about her...
She just needs to fit in...and control that voice of hers!
 Life isn't always easy...
 BUT...she figures it out...

Soon you'll be able to read about her...
HOPEFULLY soon...we're sending it off to a friend who is a text editor for a publishing house here in Canada...not that this will be the Publisher who will snap up our series...BUT you never know.
We're shooting for May 2012...

We're excited...and it's the 1st book I have ever illustrated, but have a list as long as my arm to complete.
It's great to have goals...and this is a BIGGIE!!!

HAVE a great Thursday, you know you'll be the first to know when things HAPPEN!
and...thank you...for the VERY sweet comments with regards to Miss A the other day. They warmed my heart. THANK YOU!

BIG hugs

swings + books = happy days

Our Saturday in Morrisburg,ON...not much to do other than enjoy swings, parks and books...the girls had fun, and I was able to sketch them a little in my moleskine...from Life (not my imagination:-) well...capturing them on the swings was a little challenging.

See you back here tomorrow...I have sketches to show you for the Sketchbook Project!
(nope, no book in the mail yet...but I thought I would get ahead a little and plan my "story" )
Did any of you sign up??

I`m still trying to get my head around the terminoligy of crocheting...
I`d like to be able to just work from a pattern...and make this flower.
These necklaces seem pretty simple...I know a couple of little Misses which would love these.
Did I tell you I was hooked on Crocheting? No, well I am trying...and will hopefull get it...everyone says YouTube is a great source for HOW-TO videos...not I just need the time to sit down and Crochet!
This book is by Candi Jensen and has SO many incredible projects...
What a great way to spunk up a pair of capris!
We need a few of these...they would come in really handy!
This print is up in my ETSY store...
As well as the Yellow Bird, the Princess and the Frog print and the Ginger Dog with the Boy which I finished this past week.
I still have FREE SHIPPING and will run  it all throughout the month of March.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend...we just got back from an AMAZINGly wonderful Trinidadian Curry Dinner.

Until later today...as I know it's the wee hours for us here.

MOLESKINE Heaven...they ARRIVED!!!!

I really CAN'T believe it...I thought about these beautiful Moleskine "Colour a Month" notebooks and ordered them on SUNDAY(see Sunday's post)...and they arrived half an hour ago...WOW...AND considering we're in the midst of getting snow flurries...this would have taken 3 weeks to arrive if we were in the UK!
NOW...I can enjoy getting my Life organised...and lists written.
I also added this beautiful Watercolour Moleskine to the order...

ONE HAPPY LADY...(that's me)

Hope you're having a HAPPY day!

Friday's projects...

SO much to do...and SO little time...
I have had these birds cut and ready for cards for the past month now...
With our Mamas and Chicks Show coming up...I like to bring new and fresh *Chicks* to my table. I always have gift cards to sell, and have found that people don't like to pay more than $3 for a card...so I'm not "Hand drawing" any this time.
We went to the Art Shop yesterday(the girls and I) and we bought a new sketch book for each of them...they wanted one of the pretty ones with lovely flowers and birds all over the covers...BUT...I could by 3 regular ones for the price of one of those...so...we've been crafting this morning.
Given that the covers may not lay straight for a few days...and it may take a couple of days for even the glue to dry...but they loved getting messy this morning.
finally...I spoke with Tam yesterday and we agreed we HAVE to change our Banner...so I'm working on it...*smile*...
Maybe I'll post the finished piece later.
What are you working on today?

Happy 100th Post...

not for us...because I missed ours...sorry Tam, but for Sandy K ... Happy 100th!
Here are 100 books for a child to browse through...I had no idea there could be so many squished onto a shelf...I guess that's their(our daughters) way of "cleaning" up!
