BEYOND Bedding...

Happy Tuesdays fabulous readers!!...yes, I know...no Tell All Tuesdays this morning.
This week has been crazy getting our Mamas and Chicks Show organised before my partner Cindy leaves to meet her adopted boy in China next week (SO excited for her!!!)
We're ALL sold out with the Show...which relieves SO much stress...you wouldn't believe the amount of worry goes through my head when we're scrambling for vendors the last month of the Show...which has only happened a couple of times...but anyway, I won't be worrying about it now!
So thinking of Cindy and her new baby I came across this BEAUTIFUL site which as it says in it's name "BEYOND BEDDING" carries the most amazing bedding, and accessories for children of all ages, even little cute outfits for toddlers...my jaw was dropping as I was browsing. The fabrics are stunning...
the colours are perfect...
the style is divine...
and the prices are extremely reasonable...

I mean...look how gorgeous these are!!
They even have teen bedding...and with a flat rate shipping cost of $7.95!!! WOW!

SPREAD the word...if you know of ANYONE who is having a baby,or is transitioning from baby crib to toddler...or a teen bedroom in need of a makeover...send them this link.

WEBSITE : BEYOND-BEDDING
AND...they even have a blog!

Anyway...I am amazed what we can buy and find on the internet...

Have you purchased anything on the internet recently worth telling your friends and family about?

Have a great afternoon.

People to Go...

Hello...have you had a good day?
We have...we went to the "ORANGE" Park today for a few hours...past by the Post Office and sent some more Snail Mail over to the UK...
We also went to our local Toy store to see if they had any BATMAN lunch packs for little Miss A...yeah, she`s all into the Super Heros...whilst we were there...the very friendly Store Manager, Lynn, gave us 4 people to GO colour...
one for me too!
the girls had LOTS of fun...Little Miss J is becomming more and more interested in details...it`s fun to watch their progress and what`s important to them...Miss A is all about speed...the faster she gets it done...the better. I have to tell her to slow down a little...
Oh...see, we found a BATMAN lunch bag!

ET Voila...we all look like cowboys...I guess I could have made the sihouettes a little more femanine...but I think it's all about the "fun of it" and not the likeness...
it's always lovely to get down on their level...and play!
Now..time for Dinner...nothing exciting, Chicken Stirfry.
Then off for a run!

HUGS...until tomorrow.

Earthquake in TORONTO...Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh...

Sitting sketching, Little Miss J was with me at the kitchen table making cards for her little buddies...when it felt as though the table was sliding back and forth...the African Iris we have in the corner of the kitchen was being blown by a wind which didn't exist...the thunder rumbled in the mid-day SUN?
Yes, we definitely felt and saw this Quake, we were very fortunate it only measured 5.5.
Lake Ontario which is a 10 minute drive from our house has a major fault line running up it...we have felt quakes before...but this was different, and what with all the other crazy quakes which have been happening in the World...it makes you wonder, it makes you think...

Did it effect you and your Life today?

BIG hugs to you all and I'm pleased everyone is safe.
We're in a time of change...I just worry for our children...and pray that they have a safe and happy Life...

Bon nuit... a domain.

salvaging old jumpers..

so I'm sure most of you know what a jumper is...but for those who don't...it's a sweater.
My wonderful Mum opened up 2 old suitcases when I found out I was pregnant 6 years ago with Little Miss A...
"Here you go" she said..."take a look through here"... there was a musty smell to all the fabrics...fabrics which I remembered wearing when I was small...fabrics which I had memories only from photos taken...this was touching, and special...thank you Mum!
I pulled out a Marimekko top...you know the classic one which has all those little bright coloured pockets, old knitted hats and gloves, dresses my Farmor(Grandmother) had made, undershirts(which my girls STILL love to wear)...then a Liberty Dress which I remember my Dad having bought for us for Christmas...green with pretty flowers...AND sweaters/jumpers which brought back Winter filled memories...times when we would spend hours outside playing in the snow building HUGE snowmen...great thick and warm woolen knitted sweaters...
jumpers I am SO happy she kept...they honestly were in good shape...I think one had a moth hole which I fixed...but other than that...both our girls have worn all the clothes which were salvaged.
Then there came a time when thoughts of storing again for another generation...or donating came across my mind...
WHAT TO DO???
I am a pack rat and hate throwing things out...especially memories and history. SO...I made these 2 necklaces from 2 sweaters...
The longest of the 2 falls just bellow my chest...and they look quite sweet with a simple jumper on.
I am really happy with the result...and know now I have memories forever which I can wear.
WHAT do you hang on to...and can't let go of in your Life?
Have a wonderful day...thanks for stopping by.

working over Christmas...

it's little Mr.M's Christening tomorrow...so...I've been busy.
my sister bought 4 frames and I have made 4 watercolours for Morton as a gift. This is one of my faves(if I must say so myself!)
Tiddler the fish(one of his favourite story books)...
keeping in the theme of blue and whites...I found a beautiful arctic fox to draw...
and a baby seal.
Morton, may you be blessed and given happiness and great health throughout your Life.
HUGS...we love you.

friendly Friday...

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday afternoon...having eaten lunch around noon, the girls and I walked a good 25 minutes to arrive at sister's door step...always a warm welcome waiting for us as we enter her sweet and warm, cozy house...which used to be the stables of our Childhood house which our parents sold 10 years ago. They converted it into a little 2 bedroom cottage...and now, sister and bro in-law live there with Morton.
I of course forgot my camera...but Tam did promise to post some of the pics when she got the chance.(thanks Tam)
We had a Cappuccino and mini Cinnamon roll as the kids got acquainted again...it took all of 5 minutes! Tam's kids are wonderful...as you saw in the previous post...very joyous and happy(other than Beth when at the end of the day she'd really had enough...poor little thing was exhausted)
Tam, is...you are Tam...so,and such a positive lady.Exuberant and talented...with always MUCH care for others.
Thank you for coming out to our neck of the woods!
The below pics were made as belated Birthday and Xmas gifts for her 2 sweetnesses.
I think little Miss J fell in love with Jack...even though yesterday she said "I don't really like boys Mummy." And that was that...until this evening when we came back to my parents house...and she wished to show him absolutely every material possession she owned. So cute.
Beth started the ever so endearing "Separation Anxiety" with Tam...hmm...I STILL experience this on a daily basis with Jordan...she is extremely independent and yet I walk 3 steps ahead of her and she is almost in tears...thinking I will desert her!
So...on a BLAAAA note...I have contracted a stomach bug...thanks Boo and Morton...but on the positive side...it's still a good 2 weeks until Xmas...so I have time to recuperate. YAY! Better now than later....apologies in advance to Tam...it came on suddenly and pray that NONE of you get it.
I am signing off now...I really hope Tam shows you some beautiful illustrations she has been working on for a book....they're WONDERFUL...maybe if you ask her nicely she'll give you all a sneak peak.
The one thing I look forward to next year seeing Tam...is that we WILL organise a cooking day here or up at yours...it's SO difficult with a 10 month year old in tow...but perhaps Mr. R will join us and Ron so that Tam and I and sister could enjoy the afternoon together and they take the kiddos off for a LONG walk...heehee...we'll work towards it.
What do you wish you had done today???
I must go...ciao until next time...

We're back...

and we had such a fun time...the children(all 25 of them) were entertained constantly. Surprisingly enough there were very few moments where I felt the noise level was too much.
Above is a sketch I quickly did before we left.
It was a gorgeous cottage and we were in a bay of Lake Muskoka which seemed to always give a breeze...so it never got too hot.
The place was large enough that with 19 adults and that many children ranging in age from 4 months to 44 years old...we all found places to relax during the day...and all the kids got on well...there were a few tattle-tales...but no cuts...a few bumps...and only a few time-outs.

I really though I was going to have more time to myself...but that wasn't the case. I brought up crafts to do with the children...but they were content making chocolate milk and mud pies out of the dark clay beach.
Here's a picture of our girls and a friend of theirs donning the masks we had fun with the night before...because our friend turns 40, we had a "Naughty and Nice" pass the parcel game in the evening when all the kiddies went to bed...I have pictures of what everyone opened on their turn...but not sure I should post it...we left the "Nicies" out for the little ones to play with the next day...lol...lots of hysterical laughing was had by all!

Daddy took the girls out on a canoe ride one day...they were out for a good hour and a half and loved bouncing on the waves...no fear(yet)
The dock was a great place later on in the evening to watch the sunset...so quiet and tranquil, away from the hustle and bustle of the chefs in the kitchen prepping dinner for 20+.
I would do it again...I'll post more pictures during the week...I wish the Internet had been working, it would have been great to post daily, as each day was SO different.
Talking about DIFFERENT...
Starting tomorrow we're starting "TELL all TUESDAYS" where we're interviewing an artist, crafter, photographer, jeweller who we think deserves a little more recognition in their lives...or if they already have it...maybe just to get to know them slightly better.
Our first artist for our Tuesday interview tomorrow is a lovely lady who lives all the way in a little village in Italy.
Check back tomorrow for our "TELL all TUESDAYS" launch!
Hope you had a good week...and are enjoying this crazy filled Summer of unpredictable weather...I wish I'd had my camera with me last night...the Lightening Storm was incredible!!!!
It's good to be back...

Come and see....I finished it today!!!

Well, it's been 5 days of sketching, painting and executing this fairy mural... I could have spent another 4 days on details but the budget was what it was...and so I willed myself to put the paintbrush down and called it "finished".
Don't you just love finishing a project? It's so satisfying...
We counted the fairies...there are 18 of them, each one different from the other.
I love this one maybe the best, as well as the little guy sitting on the cherries reading a book.
This client was a dream...she took care of the girls all week, and was so easy...she adores the finished mural...yay...aren't I lucky!
Oh, I like these two too, sitting on the swing catching up on the days happenings.
Even fairies have to go to school!
Bunnies and cats...and sleeping fairies.
I really enjoyed painting these cherries...is this a sign I should maybe paint some still life's?
Oh and here's the little guy reading his book.
Maybe I'll get more commissions from this piece...I'm very pleased how it turned out.
Hope you sleep well Olivia in your new bedroom...sweet dreams.
Until tomorrow everyone...I am SO exhausted, even after drinking and XLarge Earl Grey from Tim Hortons!

Finishing Friday....

I hope to finish today...but may not...I still have lots to do. Yesterday I added shadows to everything...and finished the sunflowers(which are looking not SO much like sunflowers because of the very long petals, but I like them)
I have all the fairies still to paint, but I'm happy how the Olivia turned out...

Working on the arch of the window took away a couple of hours yesterday...and I added all the climbing roses...which give a pop of colour(not that there isn't enough! lol)
I'm in a rush again to get out of the house...I finished my taxes last night...phew...now I have other paperwork to do...sorry I haven't been visiting all of you recently...this week has been SO busy, just look at how our girls were last night when we came home. They have been with me at the clients house...she has a 5 year old...so they were entertained all day! Thank you great client...you made the week SO much easier.
Hey, pass by tomorrow...I may have pics of the finished Fairy Mural.
Have a lovely Friday.

Happy 100th Post...

not for us...because I missed ours...sorry Tam, but for Sandy K ... Happy 100th!
Here are 100 books for a child to browse through...I had no idea there could be so many squished onto a shelf...I guess that's their(our daughters) way of "cleaning" up!

Snag that Treasury...

My Once Upon a Time Rhino is featured in a Treasury!
So, it hasn't reached the Front page of Etsy yet, but I'm featured on a Treasury which is all that counts...my second treasury-ever!
CLICK HERE if you'd like to leave a comment...
I think it depends on the amount of popularity comments you receive to whether or not they choose the treasury...please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks to patk860 Jewelery designs for adding me..

Oh, I almost forgot...I was having a really hard time trying to capture the images of the Treasury so I used Snagit by TechSmith to capture the Treasury Page, it's a great tool and they have a 30 day free trial.

It's chilly here today...no air-conditioning...and windows wide open. I love freshening up the house, it feels like Spring is here, even though we're in Mid-July (ALREADY!)
Where do the days fly to?

Sunday Watercolour...

It's boiling out...my DH took the girls over to a friends to play for a couple of hours so I could get this watercolour finished.
Prints will be up for grabs this week in my Etsy Store.
Want to know what I'm up to this week::
  • Taxes
  • Meet up with 2 clients for the murals (Fairies and Swamp/Meadow)
  • Watercolour of a Whale
  • Zoo (I promised the girls)
  • Strawberry picking(if I don't go soon...there will be none left)
  • Update Mamas and Chicks site
  • Exploring 2 new parks (I promised the girls)
  • Send Boo(my sister) and Olivia(my Niece) in the UK their Birthday gifts.
  • Try to catch up with Shelly and Dale
  • Clean house from top to bottom
  • LOTS of Laundry
  • Grocery shop
  • Set up Mamas and chicks Blog
  • Email vendors about Fish Friday at Club Carib
  • Start my inspiration board

Do I think I'll get it all done? I hope so. The Taxes are going to take up all my evenings and lunches if the girls nap...but they have to be done, as my husband is waiting for figures.
It can sometimes be a little overwhelming, and I'm definitely not as good at writing lists as my DH is...but here is my effort, I hope it helps.

What do you have to get done this week???

I'll check in with you all later today...
